Trust Celebrates Achieving Van Excellence Accreditation

The Trust Transport Division has been awarded, for the second year running, accreditation under an initiative developed by the Freight Transport Association (FTA) known as ‘Van Excellence’.

The Trust is proud to be the only public sector organisation in Northern Ireland to hold this accreditation. The award, developed in 2010, recognises high standards of van operation and driving by assessing operators against an industry code of good practice.

To gain accreditation the Trusts fleet operation, consisting of over 50 vans, was audited by the FTA to examine their procedures in relation to each element of the Van’s Excellence Fundamental Code.

The accreditation shows the Trusts commitment to safer, more efficient and sustainable van fleets.

SE Trust Transport Manager, Richard Walker, said:

“I am delighted that we have retained our accreditation and again recognised formally for our continued hard work in ensuring our fleet of vans are operating in accordance with industry best practice. The FTA van excellence accreditation gives us an external reassurance that we are getting things right and in turn can reassure our stakeholders of our ongoing commitment to strive for excellence. I am very proud of our team and that we are the only public sector organisation in Northern Ireland to have achieved this industry recognised accreditation”.

Gerry Shaw, Manager of Audit and Accreditation Process, Freight Transport Association, said:

“This recognition of excellence is the cornerstone of Van Excellence and this accreditation demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to better ways of working. In turn, this will help an organisations standing with their customers and employees and reassure both the public and Government that van operators are addressing the issues of concern to them”.
