Appointment of New Trust Chairman


The Department of Health has announced the appointment of Deep Sagar as Non-Executive Chair of the Trust.

Mr Sagar took up his post with us on 1 March 2019 and will be meeting staff and visiting facilities over the coming months. His appointment will run for a maximum period of four years.

Deep Sagar’s career was in private-sector business. He had roles such as General Manager and Director in multinationals like Coca-Cola internationally. More recently he has been a Non-Executive Director in the public and third sectors.   His roles have included being Chair of NHS 24, Councillors’ Remuneration Panel for Northern Ireland and South Eastern Regional College governors. Among his present roles are board membership of Warrenpoint Harbour Authority and the Children and Family Court Support and Advisory Service.

The Chairman is responsible for "ensuring effective performance and discharge of the Trust's statutory functions". He provides "strategic leadership and direction" to the Trust and its Board.

Mr Sagar replaces Colm McKenna who served two terms as Chairman.
