Social and Leisure Activities

Staff can avail of a number of social and leisure benefits through the following schemes. NHS Discounts provides saving to staff and family through 100s of local and national businesses. Staff Services is an optional membership available to all staff which allows you to avail of special discount rates and promotions.

Special Leave 

The Trust offers special leave for caring, maternity, adoption, bereavement and public service. Many of the Trust’s special leave provisions go further than legislative requirements.

Children’s Nursery

The Trust runs Nurseries on the Lagan Valley Hospital and Ulster Hospital Sites. An ‘After Schools Club’ in Lagan Valley and Downpatrick Hospitals offer a high quality after school service.

Summer Scheme

The Trust provides an annual summer scheme across Downpatrick, Lisburn & Newtownards, accommodating children during the summer months. The scheme is open to all Trust employees’ children aged between 5 and 14 years.

Work Life Balance/Flexible Working Policy

This policy provides staff with the opportunity to apply for a range of flexible working arrangements to enable them to balance home and work commitments and improve their working lives.

Leap Forward

A Staff Health Initiative to promote physical activity within our staff groups. The programme is open to all Trust staff and operates across four sites offering free after work activities that include Fit Ball, Circuits, Yoga, Pilates, Zumba and Football. Staff may also take advantage of reduced gym rates throughout the Trust area.
