Deep Sagar

The Chair is responsible for “ensuring effective performance and discharge of the Trust’s statutory functions”. He provides “strategic leadership and direction” to the Trust and its Board. Deep Sagar’s career was in private-sector business.

He had roles such as general manager and director in multinationals like Coca-Cola internationally. More recently he has been a non-executive director in the public and third sectors.

His roles have included being chair of NHS 24, Councillors’ Remuneration Panel for Northern Ireland and South Eastern Regional College governors. Among his present roles are board membership of Warrenpoint Harbour Authority and Cafcass.

Roles & Responsibilities of the Chief Executive

To lead and direct the Trust to ensure delivery of efficient and effective health and social services within allocated resources and the policies and practices of sound corporate governance. The Chief Executive is the Trust’s accountable officer to the DHSSPS for all matters relating to the performance of the Trust and the discharge of delegated statutory functions.

Mr McGoran began his career in the health service in 1986 and worked within Social Services, Finance and Human Resources.

He took on the role of Director of Human Resources for the Ulster, North Down & Ards Hospitals Trust in 1996.

Mr McGoran moved into the position of Director of Acute Services for the Ulster Community & Hospitals Trust in April 1998.
