Trust Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Ex-Patients Guild


Mr Colm McKenna, Chairman of the Trust hosted an afternoon tea party recently to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Ex-Patients Guild, Lagan Valley Hospital.

Past and present members of the Guild, were joined in the celebration by Councillor Thomas Beckett, Mayor of Lisburn City and Castlereagh City Council, members of the South Eastern Trust Board and hospital staff. It was standing room only, as so many were keen to show their appreciation to these dedicated volunteers.

The Ex-Patients Guild run the hospital shop, selling confectionary, drinks, toiletries, and baby clothes to visitors, patients and staff. Over the last 50 years the Guild has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the purchase of essential medical equipment for Lagan Valley Hospital.

The Chairman presented Margaret Norwood (Chairman of Ex-Patients Guild) with a plaque to mark the 50th anniversary and the important role these volunteers play within Lagan Valley Hospital.
