From April 4th, a new Ulsterbus 659 service will operate between Cairnshill Park and Ride and Ulster Hospital, Dundonald, calling at Castle buildings, Stormont.

Service Delivery Manager, David Graham, said, “We are pleased to be trialling this new service Monday to Friday, between Cairnshill and Stormont, following feedback from our passengers.

There will be three departures each day from Cairnshill at 0735, 0800 and 1400 with two services returning at 1625 and 1655.

This is good news for commuters currently travelling to these locations from Carryduff, Downpatrick and Newcastle and will allow them to park for free at Cairnshill and travel onwards by bus, avoiding traffic congestion and parking charges.

An adult Smartlink fare between Cairnshill Park & Ride and Ulster Hospital will cost £1.80 on a 10 journey Smartcard, a saving of over 30% versus paying cash fare.

Passenger demand and usage levels will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and we would welcome all feedback on the new service.”
