New Inpatient Ward Block

The Ulster Hospital is undergoing extensive redevelopment to build state of the art facilities that will help us transform patient care for the 21st century.

Construction of the new Inpatient Ward Block has made excellent progress and is now in its final year. Located at the rear of the Hospital site adjacent to the Terraced Carpark, the building has been designed to the highest building and infection control standards with input from over 200 service user groups. The building will be handed over from the Contractor, Graham Bam Healthcare Partnership to the Trust in October 2016 and, following a period of commissioning, a phased opening will take place in January and April 2017.

The seven storey building will provide 12 inpatient wards comprising 288 en-suite bedrooms, a new Day Procedure Unit including 4 state of the art Operating Theatres and an Endoscopy suite where patients will have the opportunity to have a broad range of procedures completed without having to stay in hospital overnight. The building will also have Support Services including a new Pharmacy Department. It is anticipated the new facility will open to Patients early 2017.

The next stage of the Phase B Redevelopment Programme has commenced in April 2016 with the construction of the new Acute Services Block. Located to the west of the site, this second building will be linked to the Inpatient Ward Block and will provide Specialist Wards comprising 178 beds, an Emergency Department, Assessment Unit, Inpatient Imaging Department and Support Services.

Completed single bedroom all have ensuite facilities and the latest state of the art technology.
