Official Opening of the Quiet Room

The “Paeds in a Pod” group are delighted to announce the official opening of the Quiet Room located adjacent to Maynard Sinclair Children’s Ward.

The group members organised a number of fund raising activities to ensure this room was comfortably furnished, with tea making facilities, mood lighting and sofa beds to enable parents with children on the ward to stay overnight comfortably. It is also hoped that this room can be used to give parents a short break away from the ward to have refreshments, gather their thoughts or speak to their child’s Consultant or other Health Care Professional.

The “Paeds in a Pod” group was established in September 2004 and comprises of a group of parents whose children have used paediatric services and also staff member’s past and present who have worked within Acute Paediatrics. The aim of the group is to look at ways to improve the quality of the experiences of children and their parents during their time in hospital.
