Hockey Silver for Emergency Nurse

08/06/2016

Anne Snoddy, Emergency Nurse Practitioner in the Ulster Hospital has played in the Irish Masters Women’s over 50s hockey team for the past two years. The team is selected from all four Provinces and training sessions are held regularly in Dublin.

The team has enjoyed a fair amount of success achieving bronze at the 2014 World Cup in Rotterdam, winning the Home Nations in June 2015 and winning a silver medal at the Europeans in August 2015.

This year the Masters World Cup was held in the Australian capital city Canberra. The final took place between Ireland and Australia and was followed live on-line by many supporters at home. The team came away with the silver medal which is Ireland hockey’s best ever finish on the world stage. Although Ireland took an early lead after a hard fought match in blistering heat, the final score was 3-2!

Well done to Anne and all the team!
