Enabling Works Commence for Lisburn PCCC on Lagan Valley Hospital Site

Enabling works to clear the footprint of the site for the new Lisburn Primary and Community Care Centre (PCCC) will commence on the Lagan Valley Hospital site on Monday 15 August 2016.

These enabling works are essential to facilitate the construction of the Lisburn PCCC . The work will be phased and will involve the refurbishment of selected areas across Lagan Valley Hospital to allow the decant of services from Willow House, the Old Department of Psychiatry Building, the Recreation Hall and Laganview Conference Centre. The work will complete following the demolition of these buildings to provide a cleared site for construction. The anticipated completion date for this initial phase of enabling work is January 2017.

Vehicular access/egress (both routine and emergency/Northern Ireland Ambulance Service) to the Lagan Valley Hospital site will be maintained throughout this period.

The areas that will be affected by the first phase of enabling works over the next few weeks are as follows:

Ground floor:

• Old Theatres

• Ward 9

• Willow House

• White House

• Corridor adjacent to entrance to Day Procedure Unit (DPU)

• Staff homes

2nd floor

• Ward 2

And some external areas:

• rear section of Bus compound

• DPU patient parking (fencing)

• Rear of Estates

With further work to follow.

As per all Capital Development-led projects on live hospital sties, the design team have been made fully aware of all interface issues, including the adjacency of all clinical services. We will try to keep disruption to staff, patients and visitors attending the hospital site to a minimum. There will also be a number of information sessions planned across the year to keep staff informed of the PCCC project as it progresses.

Thank you to all staff, patients and visitors in advance for your continued cooperation during the development of the Lisburn PCCC .
