Local Business Donates to Macdermott Unit Ulster Hospital

Northern Ireland Water Staff donated over £500 to the Macdermott Unit, Ulster Hospital, in memory of their former colleague Keith Crossen.

The Quiz, which was previously held annually, took place on December 17th 2017. The event was a great success and raised an impressive £555.82.

Keith was a patient at the Macdermott Oncology Haematology Day Unit; therefore his colleagues felt that raising funds for the unit that took great care of him would be a fitting tribute to a well-loved co-worker and friend.

The Quiz had previously been organised by Keith himself and had been postponed during the period of Keith’s illness and subsequent passing. The Quiz will now run annually in memory of Keith and in aid of the Macdermott Unit.

The generous donation of £555.82 was presented to the unit’s Acting Ward Manager, Sarah McAuley and Clinical Manager, Mary Jo Thompson on Friday 2nd February by quiz organisers and NI Water Staff Brendan Fyfe and Kate Rooney.

Mary Jo Thompson, Clinical Manager of Cancer Services, said, “The South Eastern Trust Macdermott Chemotherapy Unit is always most appreciative of any funding that is raised and uses it to improve the patients’ experience.”
