World Social Work Day 2019

Over 80 social workers from across the South Eastern Trust came together on the 19th March to celebrate World Social Work Day.

Students to Directors from all areas of practice set aside time to get together and embrace this year’s theme “connecting social workers.”  An interactive morning was planned around this theme, which included participation in a drumming circle, allowing people to reconnect with colleagues and listening to the experiences of social workers at various stages in their social work career.

The 2019 Social Work Awards were launched by Brendan Whittle, Director of Social Work, who reflected on the importance of building relationships with the people we support and also the importance of strengthening relationships with teams and colleagues across the social work community.

The day ended with staff being privileged to see the first performance of “Our Direction”, a service user choir established by  Adult learning disability day care services across the Trust. Comments from those present stated that the choir was the highlight of the day very “uplifting” and “inspiring”.
