Walk Leaders - Improving the wellbeing of local communities

Congratulations to all who took part in the ‘Walk Leader’ training held in Ballynahinch just before Easter.

The ‘Walking for Health’ programme aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people in Northern Ireland by encouraging them to increase their level of physical activity through participation in regular short health walks, lasting up to an hour. In total 18 people took part in the course, learning how to lead health walks in their own areas which include; Saintfield, Ballynahinch, Downpatrick, Newcastle, Ard’s Peninsula, Derriaghy and Lisburn. The delegates were very motivated and enthusiastic which is exciting and encouraging for the future of this community based programme.
