Local Man Donates Incredible Amount of Money to Macmillan Cancer Support

Pat Hamill from Broughshane recently donated £13,210 to Macmillan Cancer Support in recognition of  the treatment he received for mouth cancer at the Ulster Hospital, Dundonald

The money was raised through various events including a sponsored walk and a Big Breakfast and by generous donations throughout the year from patrons of Mr Hamill's pub The Halfway House.

This is the fifth successive year that Pat has raised a significant amount of money bringing the combined total of Pat’s donations to an amazing total of £64,362.

Cherith Semple, Reader in Clinical Cancer Nursing, who formerly was Pat’s Macmillan Nurse at the Ulster Hospital, Dundonald said: “This is truly, a phenomenal fundraising endeavour once again by Pat, his family and community. This money will certainly be put to good use by Macmillan Cancer Support in providing support to others with cancer.”
