We, in the Outpatients Department in the Downe Hospital, are committed to providing the highest levels of individual care and attention to all patients who are referred to us. Clinics are held, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm (with the exception of bank holidays). Approximately 60 clinics are held each week. General Practitioners, Consultants or the Accident and Emergency Department may refer patients to us. As our aim is to see patients as efficiently as possible, we ask you to allow at least one hour for your visit, as it may be necessary to see more than one specialist or you may require investigations and tests. About your appointmentHow to find us The General Outpatients department is situated at the main hospital entrance and in the Annex to the rear of the building Parking Parking is available in the front hospital grounds and at the annex, with four dedicated spaces for disabled badge holders. Wheel chair access is available through each entrance. Should you require assistance, or the use of a wheel chair, please contact a member of Outpatient staff. Ambulance transport can only be provided on medical grounds and on the recommendation of your General Practitioner or hospital doctor. When you receive your appointment Should you have any queries regarding your appointment, please contact a member of Outpatients staff at 028 44 613311 ( Main Reception Ext 3738, Annex Ext 3753). If you cannot attend your appointment, please ring to cancel /re-schedule as soon as possible to allow us to offer the appointment to someone else. What to bring with you We would ask that all patients bring to their appointment, the following items:- • The appointment letter • Medical card • A list of all current medications If you are receiving Income Support and wish to claim for travelling expenses, please bring your Income Support book (please note that only public transport rates are paid). When you arrive in the Department When you arrive in the department, please confirm your arrival with the receptionist and then proceed into the seating area as directed. After your appointment You may be required to attend the Outpatients department for a follow-up appointment. Please advise the receptionist who will allocate a review appointment. A reminder letter will be sent out you in the post. Facilities available Vending machines are located in the waiting area of the Main Outpatients Department.
