Caring Communities Safe and Well


As the population ages and more people are living alone, social isolation and loneliness amongst older people are emerging as two of the major issues affecting individual health, wellbeing and independence.

Caring Communities Safe and Well aims to help people aged 65 or more tackle these issues by offering information, advice and support to access a wide range of services that will help promote safe, healthier, independent living.

Service Description

Caring Communities Safe and Well offers individuals from Ards, North Down, Lisburn and Down with the following services:-

Home visit

During the home visit Caring Communities Officer will complete a simple questionnaire and discuss what your needs are in relation to:-

• Safe secure homes

• Money matters

• Information and advice

• Health

• Healthy living

• Getting out and about

• Friendships and opportunities for learning and leisure.

Client Action Plan

The Caring Communities Officer, will support clients to achieve their personal goals which will include any onward referrals to health professionals and other organisations and services.

Volunteer befriending

Volunteer befrienders may be assigned to clients who are very lonely and isolated to provide friendly conversation and companionship on a regular basis (subject to availability).

Referral and Signposting opportunities



Small Grants

Caring Communities Safe & Well also offers up to £500 per year to local older people’s groups to enable them to organise a range of health and wellbeing activities.
