**PLEASE NOTE - TEMPORARY CHANGE TO OPENING HOURS FOR BANGOR MINOR INJURIES UNIT FROM 23 NOVEMBER 2013**
Bangor Minor Injuries Unit, at Bangor Community Hospital, will be closed at weekends from week commencing Saturday 23 November, 2013 until further notice. This is a temporary arrangement to maintain our weekday service within our current staffing levels, as we are currently experiencing a staff shortage.
The public should consider contacting their own GP or contacting GP Out of Hours centre (028) 9182 2344) for medical advice. They will then be directed to the most appropriate place for care and treatment.
Patients requiring urgent medical treatment should attend the Emergency Department (ED), Ulster Hospital, Dundonald.
Please note that Ards Minor Injuries Unit (028) 9151 0110 and Bangor Minor Injuries Unit are open Monday to Friday from (9.00 am to 5.00 pm) with x-ray service as usual (except Christmas Day).
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause during this time.**
About the Unit
If your injury is not serious, you should attend the MIU. You could be seen more quickly than in a busy Emergency Department and it allows their highly trained staff to concentrate on people with serious and life-threatening conditions.
If you are unsure if your injury/condition is suitable for treatment in the unit, staff are happy to provide advice over the telephone at the number above.
Staff may be able to treat:
- sprains and strains
- broken bones in the arm, foot or ankle
- wound infections
- minor burns and scalds
- minor head injuries
- insect and animal bites
- minor eye injuries
- injuries to the back, shoulder and chest
