16 April 2008 Trust Chairman to stand down The Chairman of the Trust, Mrs Denise Fitzsimons today indicated that she was standing down from her position within the Trust at the end of July 2008. Mrs Fitzsimons explained that she has thoroughly enjoyed the 17 years that she has been associated with various community organisations, the former Down Lisburn Trust and leading the creation of the new South Eastern Trust, which has now completed its first year of operation. She expressed her sincerest appreciation for the work of all staff in the Trust and stated that she is constantly amazed at the diligence and sensitivity of staff providing care to the population, sometimes in the most difficult of circumstances. Mrs Fitzsimons said, “I have chosen this time as the new organisation is well established. I want to devote more time to personal projects I am involved with. Given the importance of the next 3 years for the Trust and the demands on my time from other interests I am sure this is the right decision.” She added, “This has not been an easy decision, leaving friends, colleagues and the Trust which has been a large part of my life is difficult but it is the right thing to do. I will have opportunities over the next 3-4 months to thank staff but with the formal announcement I do want to express my gratitude to everyone with whom I have worked with over the last 17 years.” |
