10 March 2008 Efficiency Savings There has been a good deal of coverage in local media recently over alleged health cuts. It is important to realise that the 3% efficiencies that the Trust is required to make over the next three years are not optional - one way or another they have to be achieved by all health and social care trusts right across the sector. The paper that was tabled at January Trust Board is our response to the Department's request for ideas on how we could make those efficiencies in year one. It outlines the ways in which the Trust believes it could save the 3% without cutting services and streamlining our service to patients and clients. Nothing will happen without ministerial approval and a departmental decision that this is a sensible way forward to achieve the savings in our sector. The Chief Executive of the Trust also produced a Presentation regarding years two and three of the Comprehensive Spending review. To view this document please click here. The position paper on the provision of care to older people is a document to look at the picture right across the new trust, taking into account the changing demands on the service and the gradual growth of the elderly population.
