A&E & Minor Injuries Units The Accident & Emergency department in the Ulster Hospital is the largest of its kind in Northern Ireland, seeing around 67,000 patients per year and admitting 13,800 patients. The department is open 24 hours per day seven days per week and Emergency Nurse Practitioners are available 9.00 am - 9.00 pm. Both Ards & Bangor Minor Injuries Units are open from 09.00 to 17.00 daily seven days per week, 364 days per year (closing Christmas day only). Fracture Unit The unit has 40 adult beds - 75% of patients are over 65 years of age and have suffered major trauma, eg hip fractures. Paediatric fractures are admitted to the Child Health Directorate. The fracture unit is a satellite of the Central Fracture Service at the Royal Group of Hospitals, and as such accepts patients from throughout the province. Surgery is carried out on a daily basis and the Clinical Care Pathway dictates transfer for rehabilitation on the fifth post-operative day; therefore all patients are highly dependant on specialist nursing care whilst in the unit. Plastics & Oral Maxillo Facial Surgery Unit The unit has 34 in-patient beds and 6 day procedure beds. It is the Regional Unit and therefore is in a position to accept emergency admissions from throughout the province. A full oral surgery outpatient service is also provided. Locations in Ulster Community & Hospitals Health & Social Services Trust
The Trust works in the Community from a wide variety of locations including homes, day centres, health centres, clinics, hostels and social work offices. A full range of services is brought to the homes of people who cannot attend our facilities. These services include nursing, home help, chiropody, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and dental services.

Changes to services
Service changes and variations to service can be found in Trust Board minutes. The direction the Trust is taking can be seen in the medium / long term in the Corporate Plan and in the short term within the Trust Delivery Plan.

Contributing to Plans
