Haematology Service

"Our mission is to provide leadership in the management of benign and haematological malignancies in Northern Ireland."

Our values are:

  • Caring and respect
  • Ethics and accountability
  • Quality and innovation
  • Collegiality and teamwork
  • Continuous learning and improvement

The Haematology Department provides consultant delivered services to our GP and hospital colleagues. We offer a responsive, patient focused, speedy service to the people in our community.

We offer a range of treatments to patients who suffer from benign and maternal haematological conditions and haematological cancers such as Lymphoma, Myeloma and Leukaemia.

These treatments include:

  • Chemotherapy
  • Blood and Blood Products Transfusion
  • Monoclonal Antibody Therapy
  • Venesection
  • Bone Marrow Biopsies

The current service applies to adults and young people 16 years or above in the South Eastern Trust catchment area. This excludes referrals from Downe & Lisburn areas which currently go to Belfast City Hospital. We also advise on the haematological diagnosis of children in our catchment area before they are referred to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.
