Prison Healthcare

Healthcare in prison is delivered by a highly motivated multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals who want to make a difference and make Northern Ireland a safer place. The team aims to provide opportunities for people to develop a positive attitude towards their own health and wellbeing.

Our services are delivered across three prison establishments each having its own health centre to deliver primary health care.

Maghaberry Prison – is a modern high security prison housing adult male long term sentenced and remand prisoners, in both separated and integrated conditions.

Magilligan Prison - is a medium to low security prison which holds male prisoners with six years or less to serve and who meet the relevant security classification.

Hydebank Wood College and Women's Prison - the college which has a focus on education, learning and employment accommodates young people between the ages of 18 and 21. It also accommodates female remand and sentenced prisoners in Ash House, a house block within the complex.
