Press Release10th March 2005 Demolition contract for new Downe Hospital awarded The Down Lisburn Trust has appointed John McQuillan Contracts Ltd to demolish the current buildings and clear the site for the new Downe Hospital, Downpatrick. McQuillan’s will take over the site on 9th March and after setting up the site, will start demolition of Lecale House, the former Maternity Hospital, Cherryvalley and the old Stores later in the Spring. Eunan Carr, project manager for the new Downe Hospital, said, “We’re greatly looking forward to the start of work on the actual site, it brings the whole new hospital project a lot closer. McQuillan’s are a very experienced company and we look forward to working with them to achieve our goal of a new hospital in Downpatrick within our time frame.” Eugene McQuillan of McQuillan Contracts said, “We are pleased to be involved in this high-profile contract which will bring a huge benefit to local people in the form of the new Downe Hospital.
