New Downe Hospital Demolition

Several of the Downe Hospital’s medical staff came across to the new site to see the start of work for themselves. Drs Helen Whitehead and Lawrence Erskine join consultant Mr Crawford Bell on the site of the former stores.

John Compton, Chief Executive, Down Lisburn Trust, said, “This is an exciting time for all of us – both for the public and for our staff. It’s great to see the first concrete steps towards the new hospital being taken and I’m particularly pleased that we’re able to do the demolition in an environmentally friendly and cost-effective way. We all look forward to the start of construction in the Spring of 2006.”
