BLOOD TRANSFUSION

The Blood Transfusion department provides blood and blood products to patients with acute blood loss, anaemia, clotting problems and also supports leukaemia cases during chemo- and radiotherapy.

Each patient’s sample is tested to determine their blood group. If the patient requires blood, compatibility tests are carried out between donor blood and patient’s blood.

On average, patients in this hospital require over 500 units of blood per month.
