HAEMATOLOGY
Patient’s blood smear being examined for cell abnormalities Haematology is concerned with the study of blood using automated instruments to count blood cells. Blood smears are made of abnormal samples to examine the cell types and appearance of blood. This aids the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses such as anaemia or leukaemia. The department also measures the ability of blood to clot, either as a check before surgery or for monitoring patients taking anticoagulant drugs. |
