Length of Stay Following the birth of your baby we will make sure your stay is as pleasant and comfortable as possible. The normal period of stay is 24 hours following normal delivery and 48 hours following forceps or vacuum. If you have a Caesarean Section you can usually expect to spend up to 3 days in hospital. However, hospitals are noisy places with lots of mothers, babies, visitors and staff. Getting rest can be difficult. You may prefer to go home earlier if you and your baby are well. A community midwife will visit you at home the following day and will discuss further visits. Before leaving hospital all babies are checked by a paediatrician or specially trained midwife. |
