Support Services



Support Services

Along with medical services and advice, the Trust provides support services which facilitate in the running of the Trust as an organisation. The following is a list of those services.

Chaplains Chaplains of the main religious organisations visit the wards regularly. They are available on Mondays and Thursdays 8.00am – 12.00noon. Sunday services are held in the Hospital Church: A Church service is celebrated at 9.30am and a Mass is held at 10.45am. The hospital chaplains are on call 24 hours a day, and can be contacted by ward staff.

Interpreting Services If English is not your first language, we may be able to arrange translation or interpreting services for you. Please ask someone to contact us and we will do our best to help you.

Disabled Access All areas of the Trust are accessible to wheelchair users and those with Disabilities. Wheelchairs are available at Hospital Reception areas.

Benefits Some benefits may be affected if you have to stay in hospital. Ward staff can contact a social worker to give you more information.

Complaints/Patient Liaison Officer The Trust is committed to providing a high standard of service for its population. If anything has gone wrong with that service we need and want to know. Patient Advocate The Patients Advocate provides an advocacy service for users of Mental Health Services. Please contact: Dr Sean Kelly 028 91812661 or via e-mail Sean.Kelly@ucht.n-i.nhs.uk.

Catering The Trust provides all patients with a choice of food specific to their dietary requirements. Along with catering for patients the Trust runs two restaurants to cater for staff and visitors to the hospital, The Oasis Restaurant based in the Ulster Hospital and Daises Restaurant based in Ards Hospital. The Trust also runs a number of shops/kiosks throughout the Ulster Hospital.

Facilities Management This Department provides a wide range of services which support patient care. These services include:

• Operational Estates

• Transport

• Environmental Cleaning

• Portering

• Security

• Car Parking

• Hairdressing

• Residential Accommodation

Should you wish to access any of these services please contact the FM Helpdesk (open 7am – 10pm Monday–Sunday) located in the Ulster Hospital on ext 2939.
